Be A Hero.... Battlefield Heroes

In 1982, Trip Hawkins founded Electronic Arts, an American video game developer, marketer, and publisher.  By 2000, they were one of the major third party video game publishers.
They run the gambit of video game genres;  from Adventure Pinball to Zany Golf,  Tiger Woods to Space Hulk, you'll be hard pressed to find a genre that doesn't involve EA.

Battlefield Heroes is a free-to-play, third-person PC shooter made open to the public in 2009.  The game is a cartoon-style, class-based team deathmatch, similar to the polished Team Fortress 2 look.  The game focuses on teamwork, but does not demand it.  Players of any skill-level can customize their characters and drop directly into the action.

On March 8th, it was announced that over 7 million users had registered.

For those of you looking for an edge, there are plenty of Battle Funds to be purchased.  These funds can buy all sorts of things for your characters, like stronger guns, abilities, and a huge plethora of custom clothes and armor.

On a personal note, this game is amazing, and obscenely addicting.  I have logged over 200 hours, and thousands of kills, thanks to my Super Cheeser gun.  Everyone should be a Hero, as this game becomes more enjoyable when you're playing with friends.  Join the 7 million other users and blow each other up.

  2. I've played it before. Its really fun. Have you tried Battlefield Play4Free yet? I just hate how sometimes these micro-transaction games start to rack up costs. Id rather spend $6 on Bad Company 2 in a Steam sale, then keep buying power-ups in a free game to compete with players that do spend money.

  3. Looks insanely fun, but I don't know about the whole buy weapons and armor bit. The question is, is that edge worth it? Gameplay wise, yes, but how much would I need to spend to have a sizable advantage?

  5. being able to buy advantages in games has always annoyed me, but sometimes I like it. I've bought my little bro upgrades so that he would be on the same level as me and it makes gaming with him more interesting. I just don't like it when good players use it to make themselves unkillable.
